“Unprecedented” – Reality vs Delusion

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 3, 2020 by jtoddring

Every day, 25,000 people die of hunger. Every day, more than 25,000 people die from degenerative diseases caused by toxins, pollution, obesity and poor diets. Nobody is sounding the alarm about these two killers, which dwarf all others. Madness has gripped the world.

Every 100 days, over 5,000,000 people die of poverty and hunger, junk food and obesity. Nobody notices. But a virus kills 200,000 in the same time span, with less than 1/20th of that death toll, and it’s a global panic and hysteria, with a fascist global lockdown, a police state invoked, and global house arrests, as everyone chants the cultish chorus, “unprecedented!”

Unprecedented madness, is what it is. What’s next, the Inquisition?

Watch for it.

Every year a tragic event happens. 300,000 to 600,000 people die globally of the flu. Most are very old, very ill, or immune compromised, but it is still tragic, of course. In 2020 fewer people have died of a novel coronavirus (a new form within the cold and flu family of viruses) than from previous years’ typical flu deaths.

Let me repeat that. Fewer people have died from this new flu, or flu-like respiratory infection, to be precise, called covid-19, than have died this year from the flu, and fewer than the number that die every year from the flu.

More people die in a typical year, year after year, from the flu – yet we did not invoke a global fascist police state, mass global house arrests, sweeping unconstitutional powers for governments, and suspension of constitutional rights and freedoms for the people, in response to the previous 300,000 years of human history, when we faced typically higher death rates from the annual flu.

Simple logic and common sense fails the people, and the intellectuals, alike. Nobody fact checks? Reason has fled them.

Clearly the numbers don’t add up. This is not about public health. It is a power grab, with an extremely exaggerated relatively minor health issue used as the propaganda narrative to justify and cover it up. It is staring us in the face, like the emperor with no clothes, but people can’t see it before their eyes. They are being severely brainwashed, virtually every second, by a truly unprecedented global propaganda campaign. And it is working with unprecedented success.

If the business and political elite were truly interested in human health, the US would already have a universal public health care system; Britain would not be trashing the NHS; Big Pharma would be strictly regulated and monitored, not put in the driver’s seat; poverty, hunger and malnutrition would be eliminated; war would be stopped; toxic pesticides and other pollutants would be banned; and the fast food and processed food industries would be heavily taxed, to drive up their prices, deter their food-like products from being consumed, and fund mass public education on what truly healthy food and lifestyles look like – to make just a partial and incomplete list.

None of that is happening. This is not about human health. It’s about elite power. The Davos set wants it all.

What is unprecedented is a billionaire, Bill Gates, Mr. Pharma, and his billionaire pals at Davos, using their financial control over the World Health Organization and world governments, along with their financial control – or in most cases direct ownership – of the media, to drive an agenda of mass global house arrest, shutting down the bulk of the global economy, knowing it would demolish the global economy, which would cause vast suffering for the 99% and a feeding frenzy and boon for the 1%, and would cause a Great Depression of unprecedented proportions, in what is an act of global economic warfare of the 0.1% against the great majority of the people.

(How are these things not obvious to everyone – not even to the intelligensia?!)

A virus did not do that. A virus did not demolish the global economy. The Davos plutocrats and their political minions took a wrecking ball to the global economy, in order to force a mass restructuring, knowing it would cause mass global death and suffering, but would be a further vast transfer of wealth and power to themselves.

Some concern for health that is.

Yet the bleating flock and intelligentsia alike, all blame a virus for the economic wreckage – which is about to make the 2007-2009 Global Financial Crisis look like a child’s picnic – when it was self-evidently a planned demolition of the global economic system. That is a stunning, unprecedented level of propaganda success.

Psyops success of unprecedented proportions, is what that is. No wonder Bill Gates looks like a grinning, gloating ghoul. It’s a feeding frenzy for the super-rich, and a self-coronation, as the 99% are gutted, and liberty and democracy are destroyed.

There is nothing unprecedented about this “pandemic” – other than the hysteria and fascist measures surrounding it. We must get clear on these basic facts.

Our minds have been high-jacked by a psyops campaign of social engineering designed quite simply to consolidate the power of the ruling corporate elite and their political and technocratic minions, and to destroy democracy, freedom and constitutional rule in order to accomplish that goal.

“Unprecedented”. If I hear one more blinkered unthinking idiot utter that word, I think I’m going to throw up on their shoes. What’s unprecedented is global fascism, sheep!

Check the numbers. Compare the death toll to the flu, which is still a higher death toll. The mindlessness and unquestioning blind obedience to authority are almost unfathomable. And yes, it is disgusting, and vastly more dangerous than any germ.

*

There are two great dangers in human society above all. They are: the truly grave dangers posed by power mongers, and by obedient sheep – and the sheep are by far the greater danger. It is the collusion of cowardice which endangers us above all else.

The power hungry few are only dangerous because the docile majority yield up their power to them. Otherwise, the power hungry never rise to anything more than petty tyrants, swindlers and thugs.

All the truly great dangers are avoided if the people simply embrace their power. But they are taught to mistrust themselves, and that is the root of the problem.

What is unprecedented now, in 2020, is the extent to which the great majority have surrendered and abandoned, and disavowed, their own common sense and basic intelligence, and have blindly succumbed to a propaganda narrative designed to brazenly swindle them of all their remaining power, democracy, rights and freedom, in order to turn the oligarchs in Davos, Wall Street, Brussels, Basel and the City of London into God-kings. That is unprecedented, and that is extraordinarily dangerous.

We are now facing a second wave of fascism; but this time, the people are asleep. That is unprecedented, and that is gravely dangerous. That must change very soon, or freedom and democracy, all our rights and liberties, and the future of our species, will be effectively terminated.

Think! Think for yourself, and question everything. Then unite the people, and embrace your power; and as Bob Marley said, stand up for your rights.

*

In 2020, the vast majority of people, politicians, governments, bureaucrats, health authorities, business and political leaders, media pundits, academics, activists and intellectuals, across the political spectrum and around the world, have swallowed an elite-manufactured propaganda narrative that has severely misled, deceived, deluded, manipulated, and virtually lobotomized them all, save for a handful of exceptions, dissidents and rebels.

I have never seen anything remotely like it, nor did I expect dissidents, intellectuals and activists to be so easily neutered, intellectually eviscerated, and rendered political eunuchs, serfs and slaves, all spouting the official party line.

The intellectuals of the centre, left and right would be highly prescient, alert and aware, forward-thinking and well-informed as to what is happening and what is unfolding – if this was 1970. But it’s not.

We’ve had 50 years of a slow-motion neoliberal global corporate fascist coup, and it is now coming to completion. But the intelligensia, the left, and the people in general, remain oblivious, as if this was 1970, 1980, or even 1990 or 2000. It is not. This is end game. And the people had better wake up very soon, including their popular “leaders”, or we are doomed to slavery under neofeudal global fascist corporate rule.

Rouse the people, and their leaders, now. The hour is late, and liberty, democracy, and the people, are under full frontal attack.

Know your enemy, and know yourself, and you will be victorious in a thousand battles, said Sun Tzu, the unrivaled master of strategy. Well, it would appear that the people do not understand themselves, for they do clearly do not trust themselves, and have no confidence, but bow down before the elite, and roll over like trained poodles. Nor do they or their popular leaders and intellectuals understand the enemy. That too, is undeniably clear.

The only enemies, in truth, are ignorance, greed and hate. But, that being said, there are opponents: individuals and groups who stand in the way of a better, freer, greener, more just, and yes, healthier world. The principle enemy in that sense, far and away, and with no comparisons, is the ruling oligarchy or cabal of corporate elites, and their servile political minions, dupes and hirelings. And the business elite, the plutocrats, are led by a cabal of their own, mainly bankers, Big Oil, Big Pharma and Big Tech, who are truly sociopathic, and who are quite simply fascist: they are in love with power. This is nothing new; nor is it particularly surprising. It is, however, extremely dangerous.

To under-estimate the global power elite now would be disastrous – in a tragically unprecedented, cataclysmic, and horrific way. But that is precisely what the people, and their leaders and intellectuals, are busy doing. Never before have they been in greater danger; and never before have they failed to recognize or understand the real danger, so thoroughly and completely.

Wake them now.

Echoing and accepting the elite narrative, that a virus caused a global lockdown, and a virus destroyed the economy, hands them victory in their fascist coup by propaganda war. Stop handing your slavers their power! You are imprisoning yourselves.

What would Jefferson, Gandhi or Martin Luther King Jr. say to us now? I am sure they would say, “What are you waiting for? Unite the people, and stand!”

Post-Script:

The left better wake the fuck up, to put it starkly and most frankly. Here is a prime example. Ann Pettifor, along with Michael Hudson, Ellen Brown, Max Keiser and a few others, clearly understands finance, banking, money and economics, at least to a high degree. She clearly does not understand politics, and, like most intellectuals, and the great majority of the people, radically misunderstands what is going on with coronavirus 2020. This is what is truly dire – not a germ, not even elite power games. Good-hearted Ann needs to go back to square one and understand politics, sociology, class, and above all, the systems dynamics and machinations of the global power elite. Most intellectuals are failing utterly in terms of grossly and dangerously misunderstanding what is going on with the corona event, so she is not alone. She illustrates my point perfectly here:

The Real Resistance: Lessons From History

It does not require a majority to defeat tyranny and defend liberty, but only a small and dedicated minority – as we saw in the American and French Revolutions, and in the defeat of the first wave of fascism, which arose in the 1930’s (and was greatly loved and applauded by Western elites) and was defeated in WWII. We now face the second wave of fascism, though the sleep-walking great majority see it not.

Actually, this is the third wave of fascism. The second wave was installed by Washington and its allies around the world between 1944 and 2019 – the most obvious, or at least well-known example, being the CIA-backed coup in Chile, September 11, 1973, when democracy and freedom were destroyed, and the neoliberal corporate fascist police state of Augusto Pinochet was installed – which both brutalzed and effectively enslaved the people, and also destroyed the economy. (Sound familiar?)

Now, the Third World fascist model, having been perfected by Washington and its allies over the past 75 years, is being brought home.

Don’t we all feel safer now?

“We’re all in this together.”

Yes, lemmings, we all sing the joyous praises of our shackles and chains and mass house arrest, and sing the praises of the benign and all-saving aristocracy of the ruling oligarchy and crypto-fascist elite.

Orwell would shudder. Freedom and democracy are dying before our eyes, and as George Carlin and Jonathan Turley said, no one seems to care.

While it does not require a majority to defeat tyranny and to defend freedom, it does, however, require courage, and a spine – at least among a few.

Check the numbers. The disease is not ravaging us, is not unprecedented, but has killed 1/3rd the death toll of a typical year of the common flu. DOES ANYBODY FACT-CHECK ANYMORE?!

If 300,000 to 700,000 deaths per year from the common annual flu, which is typical, and happens every year, is not considered a pandemic, then the covid-19 virus, which  has killed 170,000 world-wide, also does not merit the term pandemic – much less mass quarantine, mass house arrest, lockdown, and shut down of the economy and the society, sweeping government powers and suspension of fundamental constitutional rights and freedoms.

Are there any sane people left who can accomplish basic reasoning? Only a rare few it seems. Even the best of the best have temporarily lost their capacity for rational thought. My God, we are in great danger – for that reason above all. The people are being manipulated en mass by power mongers, and even the best are deceived by their propaganda. Terrifying.

See Trends Journal, The Herd Mentality, to set the facts straight. Virtually all the alternative media, and even the best analysts, have been suckered, duped, taken the kool aid, and been deceived. Chilling.

But, at least whispers of dissent, and questions about draconian, authoritarian measures, are finally being raised. They must grow far more powerful, and fast, or we are doomed to live in Orwell’s worst nightmare.

Scheer Intelligence on COVID as a justification for mass surveillance:

Could unchecked government power be more dangerous than the threat of infectious disease? – Take the survey

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , on April 7, 2020 by jtoddring

When citizens are fearful and fraught with panic, they willingly give up freedoms for promises that the government will provide safety. Is unchecked government power more dangerous than the threat of infectious disease?

Since the first US case of COVID-19 was confirmed by the CDC on January 21, life as we know it has dramatically changed. The number of reported cases continues to rise, schools and businesses have been shut down nationwide, and state and local governments are taking extraordinary measures to keep citizens apart to curb the spread of the virus.

Stay-at-home and shelter-in-place orders are being instituted daily across the country. Some are more restrictive than others, with violations deemed a criminal offense subject to fines and/or jail time in certain areas. As of March 31, these restrictions have affected approximately 265 million people in 32 states, 80 counties, 17 cities, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, according to an interactive map published by the New York Times.

When approached properly, staying inside, limiting public contact and cooperating with medically necessary virus tracking efforts are reasonable and responsible actions. However, forcing citizens to stay at home and imposing broad restrictions — particularly for an undetermined length of time — can have dire consequences on citizens’ socioeconomic, psychological and physical well being.

For example, social workers are already reporting that child abuse and domestic violence cases are rising. People who are at a higher risk of becoming seriously ill (such as the elderly and people with pre-existing health problems) are in more danger now because they are losing access to health care services. Other people who need extra care and protection, even under normal circumstances, are now being isolated from their support systems due to social distancing measures.

Moreover, one study found an increased risk of death among men following a job loss, and a 2020 Lancet study found that the restriction of liberties during quarantine could have devastating adverse effects, including increased reports of suicides and lawsuits. We are already seeing these effects. Crisis hotlines are being flooded, and officials in Tennessee noted that the state had more deaths from suicide last week than coronavirus.

At the same time, serious questions about the legality and constitutionality of the emergency powers being invoked are emerging; specifically, emergency powers that allow for the detainment of anyone on mere suspicion of exposure to someone who tested positive, or is suspected to be positive, for COVID-19. Further, on March 22, it was reported that the Justice Department asked Congress to allow chief judges to detain individuals indefinitely without trials during emergencies. The power to detain healthy, law-abiding individuals is deeply alarming and is evidence of lawmakers casting aside civil and constitutional rights”

– Stand For Health Freedom – survey on coronavirus responses

Here (below) is the response I gave as to how the lockdown measures have affected my family. I am sure others have suffered even worse.

Stress levels have soared. Family health has been in turn negatively affected. Fear of job loss and income loss, and loss of our home, has also been a major factor in stress and wellness, of course. Deep agony was caused by separation of family members who were already coping with severe chronic illness, and now had to contend with family separation on top of it. (Trump was rightly denounced for separating families – now it is widespread and routine. It is still, however, every bit as evil.) Worst of all, the draconian,  literally fascist lockdown measures, forced mass quarantine, and effective mass house arrest of three billion people, have caused us grave worries for the future of freedom, democracy and civil liberties. A shattering of the already thin and crumbling public faith in political and business “leaders” is sure to result from this, what we feel is unquestionably, far worse than a major blunder, but rather, a dire precedent, and a grave error.

(My apologies for the strange formatting again – WordPress gets glitchy on me and refuses paragraph spacing, forcing me to use awkward-looking stars. Bear with me.)
*
The left is loudly proclaiming, amidst the coronavirus (largely manufactured disaster capitalism) disaster: bail-outs for the people not the corporate elite, health care for all – and a green new deal!
*
Yes, that is entirely sensible. But what about civil liberties for all, basic constitutional law, and functioning democracy, all of which requires a functioning resistance to the clear and present, unfolding imposition of neoliberal fascism, as a solution for a vastly exaggerated health crisis – fascist measures which are not likely to be reversed after the crisis has passed.
*
Without those three things – civil liberties for all, basic constitutional law, and functioning democracy – all your wishes and demands – for universal health care, aid to the people and not just big business and the rich, and a green energy infrastructure and jobs program – are just pipe dreams.
*
With real democracy these things and more are all possible. Without standing up for these three essentials, they are nothing but that – pipe dreams.
*
But to ask the left (or “progressives”) for presence of mind is something that is too much to ask, it seems. They can quote Marx, but they really need to be quoting Huxley, Orwell, or Thomas Jefferson right now – and they seem to realize it not, but are oblivious.
*

It is well-documented that US and other Western elites have armed, trained, funded, used, and colluded with Islamic terrorists for murderous geopolitical and imperial objectives for decades. There is no question that Western elites have for decades, and repeatedly, lied to the people, falsified evidence, colluded with terrorists, and engaged in mass murder for oil and other resources, while imposing a kind of global economic apartheid and predatory economic imperialism upon the world, resulting, among other things, in the on-going deaths of 20,000 children per day due to hunger, in a world that produces enough food for all. Yet the people broadly, and the left in particular, are quite cheerfully willing to believe that the same Western elite are telling the truth now, while they use the present coronavirus crisis to usher in literally fascist measures, and to believe that they have only a deep and abiding concern for human health as their motivation. Clearly the people, including the left, have lost all capacity for rational thought, and have temporarily lost their minds.

*
We need a little more Sun Tzu, and a little less Homer Simpson here, people. Think! Wake up! Question!
*
If this doesn’t soon change, we are doomed to slavery under a corporate-run, technocratic, neo-feudal Orwellian order which I and others have warned about for decades – and it will not be pretty, I assure you, but will make COVID-19(84) look like a child’s picnic.
*
Unless, of course, this is just the warm-up, the prelude to the final putsch: in which case, the people are being conditioned to accept “emergency” fascist measures, so that whenever the elite feel the need, they can flick the switch again – and this time, people disappear for good, and en mass (think Jakarta, or labour camps) – dissidents, activists, anybody who gets in the way or opposes the elite’s rule in any way. And nobody questions enough to stop it, until it is too late. If that is what we are experiencing, it is perhaps even more dangerous.
*
In any event, complacently and meekly, slavishly, obediently, foolishly allowing our civil liberties to be stripped away, while sweeping, literally fascist powers are granted to, or usurped by, elites both West and East, is terrifyingly dangerous in the extreme.
*
We should not be so foolish as to be complacent about this. How much can that be emphasized? Not possibly enough.

Post-Script:
Naomi Klein wrote the book that best describes what we have been experiencing since 9/11, with the “war on terror”, the “regime change” wars that resulted, and the war on democracy which it represented, and the rise of disaster capitalism – The Shock Doctrine: the book that still, to my mind, best describes what is happening right now. We need to make sense of this, in the most obvious sort of way. How is this not obvious that it is another power grab? A real event, hyped to the maximum degree possible, is being exploited by power hungry elites in the West, as in the East. This is not complicated to understand.
*
PSII: Karl Marx, as well as being brilliant (as a sociologist, though a daft philosopher and a terrible political theorist), was fiery as well. He managed to piss off virtually the entire left of Europe. But a fiery spirit goes with the left, generally speaking. Look at Tommy Douglas, or Martin Luther King Jr. These guys were not pussy cats. Fiery is what we need. So, sorry if I ruffle feathers at times. It is not my intention, but it is sometimes unavoidable. Truth comes first. Always.

Coronavirus: Martial Law & The New Police State

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 23, 2020 by jtoddring

An excellent live webstream discussion was given last night by Sayer Ji, the founder of GreenMedInfo – the best source I know of for science-based health information. His remarks offer a calm, well-reasoned, fact-based entry into the discussion as to what in the world is really going on with the coronavirus hysteria, and the obvious draconian, authoritarian responses by governments around the world.

James Corbett summed it up well: every authoritarian in the world is taking advantage of the crisis. And that is the gist of it.

The coronavirus itself is still less dangerous than the common flu, traffic accidents, or bathtub drownings. But the draconian, authoritarian responses to the virus, are ushering in fascism, most ominously, as well as destroying the global economy, and will create millions of times more deaths from the coming economic crash than the virus is ever likely to do.

GreenMedInfo founder and primary medical researcher Sayer Ji, in his live webstream discussion last night, was mainly re-assuring people that the sky is not falling, though things are decidedly bad, and the growing authoritarianism is certainly very concerning, to say the least.

He emphasized natural methods of boosting immunity, if people are afraid of germs. He said, emphatically, he is not.

He re-stated the view of every serious researcher and analyst I have seen. (At present, there are only a handful, since the best and the brightest have joined the masses for the moment, it seems, and have also temporarily lost their minds, or at least their ability to think rationally.)

He stated the obvious, which is this: based on the facts and figures to date, the virus danger is wildly exaggerated (2% mortality rate now confirmed for Italy, and 90% of deaths are among the very old and the severely ill) – probably, and almost certainly, for political motives (ie: social control, both in China and in the West).

He posted a summary of the articles that appeared in Rolling Stone and The Hill yesterday, March 22, on the US government’s Department of Justice secretly calling on Congress to suspend constitutional rights, in order to allow indefinite detention – for anyone who MAY be infected, or is deemed infected, or is suspected of being infected: in short, anyone the government wants to “quarantine”.

It is an obvious power grab, as Sayer Ji at GreenMedInfo, Gerald Celente at Trends Journal, and James Corbett, along with myself, have made clear.

Make sure you read the GreenMedInfo summary articles, and above all, see the video on Medical Martial Law, by the Corbett Report.

The Rockefeller Foundation made plans in 2013 for what they called “Lock Step”: a move to “a more authoritarian order” “with tighter government control” – utilizing a pandemic as the means to bring this about, during a state of public health emergency.

Since popular movements shut down the World Trade Organization talks in Seattle in 1999, the ruling corporate oligarchy have been afraid of the rising tide of global protests, and the growing crisis of legitimacy, that threaten to sweep them from power. They have been dreaming of, and planning for, preparing for, and writing about, the nullification of constitutional rule, civil liberties, freedom and democracy, and the consolidation of their powers by use of a global police state, for over 20 years. This “crisis” is largely their creation. Whether natural or man-made, they have clearly turned it to their advantage. This is disaster capitalism. Read The Shock Doctrine. This is a desperate act by desperate men to stave off social change, and to ensconce themselves in power for another generation – and to hell with the other 99% of humanity, democracy, freedom, civil rights, or the future of life on Earth.

Whether the coronavirus was a deliberately released bioweapon – perhaps the first joint US-China military operation, designed to consolidate the powers of oligarchs East and West, which it clearly has done, and done remarkably well (and the evidence points in this direction), or an accidentally released bioweapon, or a natural virus, in any case, the indisputable facts are these:

1) The danger of the virus has been vastly exaggerated, for political and/or commercial reasons that are clearly unrelated to public health;

and

2) The manufactured crisis is being used as a pretext to establish what the billionaire elite and their political minions have been clearly seeking, moving towards, preparing for, dreaming about, and also writing about, for years – especially since 9/11: the consolidation of the corporate-state oligarchy, by means of the creation of a global police state, and the suspension of all constitutional rule, human rights and civil liberties.

Make sure you watch the Gerald Celente, Trends Journal video from March 17, in particular. Remember, this is the best trend analyst in the world – the guy all the major governments and all the biggest corporations go to for trend analysis. He puts it plainly enough.

Get ready to fight for freedom and democracy, or to be slaves. Yes, it is that stark.

As the US constitutional lawyer Jonathan Turley said, at an earlier juncture, when the elite were just getting warmed up on their constitution-shredding power grab, (I’m elaborating further here on what he said) this is not just a roll-back to pre-New Deal times, and a tearing up of the social contract of compromise between the ruling business elite and the other 99% of the people; it’s not just a roll-back to Charles Dickens’ time, in the early industrial revolution; it’s not just a roll-back to before the American and French Revolutions of 200 years ago. This is a roll-back of 800 years of common law, based on the Magna Carta, the basis of all constitutional law – the right to not be arbitrarily arrested or indefinitely detained without trial.

This is an attempt by the new empire of global corporate oligarchs and their political minions to establish a new kind of feudalism, with themselves as the God-kings, who are thoroughly above the law, with the people stripped of all rights and all protections, and at the mercy of the ruling elite.

See Jonathan Turley and Keith Olbermann, The Military Commissions Act 2006.

How familiar are Olbermann’s words from that time:

“We have lived, as if in a trance.”

That about sums up the state of the people now.

“We have lived in fear. And now, our freedoms and our rights in peril, we awaken to realize, we have been afraid of the wrong thing.”

It is exactly the same then as now.

The Patriot Act and the Military Commissions Act began the shredding of constitutional rights, as part of the professed “War On Terrorism”, in 2001 and 2006. The new quarantine laws and pandemic/public health emergency laws, seal the destruction of 800 years of constitutional rule since the Magna Carta.

To stop a virus that has a death toll of 1% of the common flu, we are willing to accept a global police state? Very wise. Very wise indeed.

What the “war on terror” began, which was a war on democracy, will be finished by the war on a germ, and for the same purposes and ends.

If we don’t stop this now, or very, very soon, we will be peasants and serfs, or worse, and more likely: we will be slaves.

The real danger, as I have been saying, is not a virus that has 1% the death toll globally as the common flu – but the fascist response to it.

Get ready to defeat the second wave of fascists. We defeated them in WWII. We will defeat them again.

Here is the best analysis on the coronavirus event that I have seen anywhere to date:

The Corbett Report (what serious investigative journalism looks like)

Liberty – such an outdated concept…

It’s happening again, and the war on democracy and constitutional rights and freedoms is intensifying – with the war on a germ, and the pandemic laws and draconian responses of elites that are ushering in martial law.

The war on germs is the new 9/11

Peddling hysteria

Fascist response to virus hysteria is also crashing global economy

Italian Government Study: 99% of their Coronavirus Fatalities Were Already Sick; Half Diagnosed with 3 or More Diseases

Serious doubts about the accuracy of COVID-19 testing methods, results, mortality rates, and the supposedly unique and extreme lethality of this virus are starting to emerge, even within mainstream media and government reporting. A recent study released by the Italy’s national health authority found that nearly everyone who was pronounced dead from COVID-19 was already struggling with serious chronic disease(s).

The Bloomberg article also pointed out that the primary threat is to the elderly (the average age of someone who died was 79.5) and that the fatality rate may have been significantly overblown: instead of 8%, the fatality rate may, in fact, be closer to the global average of about 2%.

“The median age of the infected is 63 but most of those who die are older.

The average age of those who’ve died from the virus in Italy is 79.5. As of March 17, 17 people under 50 had died from the disease. All of Italy’s victims under 40 have been males with serious existing medical conditions.

According to the GIMBE Foundation, about 100,000 Italians have contracted the virus, daily Il Sole 24 Ore reported. That would bring back the country’s death rate closer to the global average of about 2%.”

This new report challenges much of the global reporting on the topic which presents a unilateral narrative that simply being exposed (within six feet) to someone who may have tested positive for the virus is life-threatening, independent of one’s health status and other precautions one might take, such as supporting one’s immune system.

In short, the Italian Government’s own federal health agency report shows that a) the coronavirus danger is wildly exaggerated, b) is almost exclusively a threat to the very old and the already ill, and c) IS NOT A DANGER OF CONTAGION TO PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT EITHER EXTREMELY OLD OR SEVERELY IMMUNE COMPROMISED. THIS MEANS THAT THE MASS QUARANTINE AND POLICE STATE MEASURES ARE COMPLETELY UNJUSTIFIED. IT MEANS THAT THE POLICE STATE MEASURES HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH PROTECTING PUBLIC HEALTH, AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH AN ELITE POWER GRAB – AS I HAVE BEEN SAYING FROM THE START.    – JTR, March 23, 2020

The Paris Attacks In Contex

Propaganda, hysteria, ultra-violence and imperialism, as usual

A people unaware of its myths is likely to continue living by them.”

– Richard Slotkin

Frankly, to even mention terrorism without putting it into context, is irresponsible in the extreme. It indicates, either a profound ignorance of history and what is happening in the world, or a profound lack of honesty and moral courage. So we will not deal in commentary and “analysis” by way of sound-bites and jingoism. (We are not news readers, but news makers, not sheep or pawns, but collective world-shapers.) In stark contrast to the ever plummeting norms of Western journalism, academia and political “leadership”, we will instead ask the deeper questions that need to be asked. That is the only way, in this or any other subject, that any clarity, and hence, any effective response, is at all possible. Otherwise, we are simply flapping our gums wildly, and parroting what we have been told (or scripted to say) and nothing good will come of it.

Our response to the horrors of terrorism is not only a moral question, but also a strategic one. If, in our rage, our fear, and our pain, we seek to destroy the terrorists, we should not go about it in ways that also destroy ourselves. But that is precisely what we are doing. Worse, we are destroying the foundations of our civilization, in the attacks on human rights, civil liberties, equality, democracy and freedom, while sowing even greater suffering and misery for both ourselves and others, and increasing the volatility, danger and instability in the world, and while further inflaming and escalating the levels of terrorism world-wide. These are the actions of madmen, not leaders. This is patently insane.

Bombing for peace is a failed strategy, both morally and also in terms of its results, as Vietnam, Cambodia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and other examples should have taught us by now. But we are repeating the mistakes of history gleefully, like Pavlov’s dogs reacting to the sound of a bell, and we wonder why the violence in the world keeps rising, and the world becomes more unstable and dangerous, and not less.

The war-mongers like to talk about “bombing them into the stone age” – well here is news: we are bombing ourselves into the stone age. Our response to terror has been terrifying and terrible – that is, terribly insane and counter-productive. But we seem intent, and hell-bent even, upon repeating the same failed strategies, presumably, until we destroy every shred of our civilization, or at least all of the best and most noble parts and foundations of it: such as our freedom, our civil liberties, our democracy, our human rights, and our very humanity.

Bravo for Dr. Strangelove. He is in power in Washington, London and Paris, and in many other nations as well, and the world is in a horrible state precisely because of it.

I have been too horrified by the predictably violent and insane reaction of the Western powers to the violent and insane attacks in Paris to delve deeply into them until now; but I have been watching the global trends closely since 9/11, and long before, and I knew immediately what direction and what response the West would take. We are moving rapidly in precisely the wrong direction.

We are confronting a man with a flame-thrower, and our response is to throw gasoline on him, and immolate ourselves as well as our adversary in the process. This is hardly intelligent behaviour. This is categorically insane.

Our patterned response of bombing for peace is predictably disastrous, and everyone who has any sense of history or recent events knows it, or should know it, very well. We are not only shooting ourselves in the foot – we are burning ourselves to the ground.

A very thoughtful friend, commenting on the attacks on Paris, summed it up this way. Civil liberties and freedom are dead in France – and if they are dead in France, they are dead in Europe and the Western world. This is far more ominous than even the most heinous of terrorist attacks – this is the destruction of our civilization, by our own hands.

But let’s get right to the heart of the matter, shall we? We bemoan terrorist attacks in Paris, but commit our own terrorist attacks on a weekly basis: with routine drone strikes, extrajudicial summary executions and kill lists, and by routine “regime changes” – that is, coups – along with mass bombings of civilian populations. This is disgusting behaviour, and hypocritical in the extreme, but typical of those presently in power, and the majority of those that have been in power in most nations for a very long time. And of course, such heinous and extreme acts of violence on our part, not only fail to halt terrorism, but in fact further inflame it.

Real change is needed, and urgently so. And it will not come from bombing campaigns, but from democratic revolution – at home.

Terrorism is always horrific and cowardly – so we should stop participating in it, and stop funding it; and stop pretending that bombing civilians is a reasonable response to the bombing of civilians, or that our response is anything other than another, and larger form of terrorism.

“It’s not a pretty picture of western humanity in crisis. Narcissism is not a wholesome trait. The West feels righteous in bombing; it doesn’t seem to know what else to do.”

– John Grant, Learning How Not To Rule The World, November 17, 2015

“French delusions aside, pitiless counterism is a stupid doctrine. If an insane person attacks a town, the answer is not for the entire town to become insane. If one hundred persons are killed, the remedy is not to kill a hundred thousand people. If a building is razed, the solution is not to erase an entire village. Firing bullets to alleviate pain is quack medicine. Sometimes, absorbing pain is indispensable for restoring well-being. Sometimes, even a proportionate counterforce is counterproductive. Wisdom has rarely been the forte of the war-addicted West.

Two eyes for one eye and all teeth for one tooth is the manual of sick minds. The human species cannot be surrendered to vengeful masters of any race, religion, or national anthem. We need no fiends to show us the way.”

– L. Ali Khan, Sick Over-Reactions to Islamic Terrorism, CounterPunch, November 19, 2015

“It is a cliché, of course, but there is no doubt about its truthfulness: for every terrorist we kill, ten others take his place.

Unsurprisingly, the agitators now beat the drum of war more than ever before. They argue for more violence, ‘until the last terrorist is eliminated.’ But the last terrorist is a fiction; the system will always breed new ones.

September 11, 2001 has changed our world in many ways. Above anything else, it brought to the fore questions of what governments can and must do in order to prevent acts of violence. Answers were given, but they were the wrong answers. Limitless spying and surveillance of people, torture and imprisonment in Guantánamo and other places, such as secret prisons, and the unlawful drone killing operations led to the dismantling of the rule of law and our constitutional rights and liberties on a scale that was considered unimaginable and impossible thirty years ago.”

– Heiner Flassbeck, The Attacks in Paris and Our Responsibility to Work Toward an Open and Tolerant Society, CounterPunch, November 19, 2015

“Just as America learned to distinguish between nationalism and Communism in Vietnam, so it will need to learn the difference between nationalism and terrorism in the post 9/11 world. To win the fight against terrorism requires accepting that the world has changed, that the old colonialism is no more and will not return, and that to occupy foreign places will be expensive, in lives and money. America cannot occupy the world. It has to learn to live in it.”

– Mahmood Mamdani, Good Muslim, Bad Muslim: America, the Cold War and the Roots of Terror

“There are two ways to do this [that is, to learn how to live in the world, and to respond intelligently, and not stupidly, to terrorism]. One, as in Vietnam, we can follow the tired old Rudy Guilianis and the young, energetic Marco Rubios and pursue a very costly 21st century military conflagration in which all parties fall prey to a learning curve that begins with terrorist acts like Paris and a relentlessly vengeful imperial reaction. Decades hence, after a great many dead and much destruction, Mamdani’s lesson will become fact for those who survive. And people will write books — like they do about World War One — on how tragically stuck in the past world leadership was circa 2015.”

– John Grant, Learning How Not To Rule The World

In our extremely short-sighted, and starkly delusional, militaristic response, we are invoking the worst and most disastrous of policies, both foreign and domestic. This alone should be enough to make us radically re-think and re-evaluate our actions, our utterly failed strategies, and our utterly failed response. But if we are to truly understand what is going on in the world, post 9/11, then we must look even deeper than this.

While Washington and its criminally complicit and morally bankrupt allies in Paris and London continue to undermine democracy and freedom around the world with covert and overt imperial warfare, as well as economic and financial terrorism (see Chomsky, Chossudovsky, Celente, Max Keiser and Paul Craig Roberts), they continue to support the neoliberal, neo-feudal imperial agenda of the corporate elite who rule the US, the EU and most of the globe. And while terrorism is real, and despicable, the “war on terror” is primarily a distraction, designed to keep the people looking elsewhere, while their nations, their rights, their freedoms, their civil liberties, their environment, their communities and their lands, their treasuries, and their futures, are systematically looted and destroyed by a rapacious and predatory corporate oligarchy, who despise democracy and care only about their own power, wealth and self-aggrandizement. This is the central fact of the matter, for all who care to see.

As Ralph Nader has said, the creeping corporate coup represents the biggest power-grab in history – and the people are being distracted from this most pressing and most threatening reality, by any means necessary or expedient. The shrill cry of terrorism just happens to be most expedient at the moment.

As Orwell knew, perpetual war is necessary for perpetual tyranny, for the people must be distracted from the real enemy at home, by a lesser enemy, or if necessary, a manufactured enemy, abroad.

(ISIS are gnats compared to the giant US military-industrial complex and its global reach, or compared with the predatory evil of Monsanto, or the giant vampire squid of Goldman Sachs, as Matt Taibbi accurately and graphically portrayed that company, to make just two comparisons from the ruling corporate elite, and a note as to their chief hired thug, which is the US military and intelligence apparatus. But hysteria and propaganda have so gripped the minds of the majority that, for the moment at least, they cannot possibly assess the dangers and threats in any remotely realistic fashion.)

The “war on terror” is the smoke screen and pretext, the justification and the cover, for on-going wars of conquest and empire abroad, and for a war on democracy and freedom, both globally and also at home.

The “war on terror” propaganda and cover must be revealed for what it is: a pretext for ruthless global hegemony and violent domination by the currently reigning corporate elite and their political servants, or prostitutes, in high office.

But if we insist on focusing on the (of course) very ugly, very horrible reality of “their” terrorism, and not our own, which dwarfs theirs many times over, then let’s at least try to deal with reality. As US intelligence agencies made clear before the invasion, occupation and mass bombing of Iraq, such actions of mass bombings, occupation and military intervention in response to terrorism (or so it was claimed to be the motive) will only increase terrorism. And this prediction proved to be entirely correct, as was absolutely predictable. Mass bombings tend to create hatred, and that fuels terrorism. You do not fight terrorism by fuelling terrorism. That much should be clear. Let us try to learn from history, shall we? Or do we wish to be forever doomed to repeat it?

“To repeat the same actions, expecting different results, is the very definition of insanity.”

– Albert Einstein

If we truly wish to deal with terrorism, and to reduce it, we will first have to begin by dealing with reality, and cease to flee ever more deeply into fantasy and delusion. That is step one. We can do nothing but harm ourselves, as well as others, until this most critical step is taken; and that will require the moral courage to look into the mirror, and to listen to the teachings and experience of history, rather than ceding our power to the dark forces of fear, vengeance and hate, and to habitual responses which have been proven to bring nothing but failure and mutual destruction.

Presently, we seem to have learned nothing from history, and so, to paraphrase Goethe, we are living hand to mouth, and worse, are sowing our own destruction. Clearly, we need to reflect deeply, and re-think our current presumptions, because every time we repeat the mistakes of history, the stakes grow higher and higher.
