Advertising, bondage and consumerism

I turn off the mute on the radio, to check if the nauseating ads are finished and we can get back to the music, and I hear, “New York steak…” – so I mute it again immediately; and I think:

Advertising = the intensification and multiplication of human wants and desires = the diminishing of human peace, contentment and happiness = higher corporate profits and increased wealth and power for the few = debt bondage, servitude and the yoke of a treadmill for the many, who will run and run until they drop dead, chasing that ever-retreating carrot, like well-trained Pavlovian dogs.

When will people realize the nature of this equation?

This is central, people. Simplify, simplify.
