The crux of the matter

The problems in the world have nothing to do with a lack of intelligence. They have everything to do with denial: and in particular, not just a denial of certain issues and social and ecological realities, but, more essentially, a denial of our own common sense. (See the great sociologists C. Wright Mills and Erich Fromm.) The crux of the issue has nothing to do with intelligence. It has to do with the masses of the people disbelieving in their own power, and mistrusting their own power.

Please reflect on that a moment. It cannot be over-stated, nor emphasized enough.

As Alan Watts said, “People who mistrust themselves and others are doomed.”

Get this, or consign yourself to irrelevance.
